Future FM is a temporary licenced FM radio station, produced and presented by teenagers from Tallaght Youth Services group; TAD (Teenagers About Discussion). Future FM is project with Foroige, Curious Broadcast and Tallaght Community Arts Centre with media partner The Echo.
Future FM is the first talk based youth radio station for Tallaght, Blanchardstown and South Dublin . Produced, programmed and presented by the young people of South Dublin. Future FM will broadcast live from Rua Red from the 27th – 30th July 2010.
In 2008, artist Patricia Baker(Curious Broadcast) began working with Foróige to creatively explore methods of dialogue that could enable young people to raise their concerns on a public platform. From this research stage, TAD was formed as a core group of teenagers who have a commitment to learning and developing creative skills in broadcasting and research.
The TAD group successfully produced 6 radio programmes for Radio Tallaght during 2009 and were awarded a distinction under the Youth Programming category of the CRAOL, the Community Radio Forum of Ireland, Achievement Awards 2009.
Capturing the learning of the year long TAD project on Radio Tallaght, Future FM is a unique opportunity for the young people to expand their learning and experience.
Future FM enables young people to have their own radio station that is dedicated to their voice, concerns and celebrations. Future FM involves the participants in every stage of production, through working groups; the young people get hands on experience of all production aspects of radio.
