RADIO TALLAGHT, A VOICE OF COMMUNITY produced by Tallaght Community Arts (TCA) and Tallaght Radio Forum
Radio Tallaght are proud to announce that they have been awarded a distinction under the Youth Programming category of the CRAOL, the Community Radio Forum of Ireland, Achievement Awards 2009.
Radio Tallaght was awarded the best Youth programme for the Radio Tallaght programme TAD (Teenagers About Discussion). TAD is a project that enables young people to produce and present their own radio programmes. TAD works with teenagers who have no radio experience. It is both a training program and a method for them to explore issues and concerns in an innovative and creative way. TAD core group are Roland Omisore, Cathal Redmond, Laura Kelly, Laura Begley, and Michael Kiernan
In 2008, artist / producer Patricia Baker began working with Foróige to creatively explore methods of dialogue that could enable young people to raise their concerns on a public platform. From this research stage, TAD was formed as a core group of teenagers who have a commitment to learning and developing skills in broadcasting and research. The TAD group have started to produce radio programmes for Radio Tallaght.
TAD enables young people to have a voice on radio. The group plan, prepare and deliver radio programmes that question, celebrate and challenge. The TAD project gives a voice to young people as engaged and collectively organised producers rather than passive, individualised consumers.
TAD are currently recruiting new members if you are interesting in joining this award winning team you can contact Rita Comerford, Peer Education, Tallaght Youth Services on rita.comerford@Foroige.ie
