Building on workshops held in February 16-19, March 14 and April 18, TCA are delighted to continue its monthly circus skills workshop with young people from the Fettercairn area on May 9 and June 6.

Working through existing community groups, youth groups and schools in Fettercairn young people from the area (aged 14-17 years) are learning juggling, manipulations, acrobatics, acrobalance and human pyramid skills with two with Dublin-based professional circus practitioners.

French Community Circus The Serious Road Trip return to Fettercairn in July to run the TCA Circus Summer School. From July 13 to 17, they will lead a week-long intensive masterclass, further building the skills of the Fettercairn teenagers.

For over 10 years now, The Serious Road Trip have been using circus arts in country in situation of political and humanitarian crisis in places such as Romania, Albania, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Palestine. If each situation and country is different, they have always worked with the notion of understanding and solidarity, bringing rich and colorful activities to the places we visited. TSRT believe passionately that the practice of a cultural activity, and the pleasure experienced in its practice, is complementary and paramount to the reconstruction and better understanding between the communities that they have so far encountered.

All of this hard work will culminate in s showcase of circus skills and performances under The Serious Road Trip’s Big Top, which will come to Fettercairn Community Centre later in the year for a Hallow’een extravaganza – watch this space for details of that!
