RADIO TALLAGHT, the community radio station project created by Tallaght Community Arts (TCA) and Tallaght Radio Forum, had an incredibly successful second broadcast on March 21 and 22, with over 80 participants involved in producing, presenting and broadcasting last weekend.
The theme for the second weekend broadcast, HAPPINESS, caught the imagination of participants and audience alike, with Radio Tallaght receiving very positive responses from listeners throughout the weekend. The diverse programme included a lecture on the story of happiness with philosopher Aislinn O’Donnell, an Amnesty International panel debate with Director Noeleen Hartigan, a live performance by local Tallaght band Fear the Foliage, a radio play by Tallaght Youth Theatre. Radio Tallaght also worked with the Tallaght Youth Services group ‘Teenagers About Discussion teenagers to produce their own programme “A Question of Luck”.
Ralph McGarry of Tallaght Radio Forum, commenting on the weekend, said “it was amazing to see so many diverse people walking through the door and telling their stories on air: I really believe we’re capturing the spirit of a thriving and creative Tallaght.”
The next Radio Tallaght will broadcasts take place on 99.1FM, from 11am to 6pm, on the following dates: June 20 and 21 // Sept 19 and 20 // Oct 17 and 18 // Dec 19 and 20.
